A link tells you where you can go. A good connection tells you why the destination matters.
Discussion Bridge connects published pages to communities, but those connections are not interchangeable. One discussion may be for public product support. Another may bring a local chapter’s experience to a national audience. Another may give subject-matter experts a place to review a draft before it becomes durable guidance.
Reader-first connections
Each connection should answer four questions:
- What job does this connection perform?
- Who is the discussion for?
- What can the reader do there?
- What will happen to what the community learns?
That turns a generic forum link into a useful invitation: Discuss with the Discussion Bridge Community. Ask questions, compare implementations, and help turn working answers into durable guidance.
Two directions, one owner at a time
Discussion Bridge supports two complementary publishing directions without pretending they are the same workflow.
An Astro-managed blog post can publish a companion topic to Discourse. The site owns the article; the forum owns the replies.
A Discourse-managed wiki can become a durable guide on the site. The forum owns the source; Astro republishes it for clear reading and must not write back accidentally.
The safety rule is simple: one item has one writable source. A connection may publish or present that item elsewhere, but it does not create a second competing owner.
The working loop
The site starts conversations. The community develops durable knowledge. The site publishes what the community learns.
